Sweet & Salty Pairings to Satisfy Your Cravings
ICYMI, we launched a new flavor on our site last week. And because it blends salty and sweet, it’s got us thinking a lot about perfect pairings.
You’ve probably been there. It’s an hour after dinner and your sweet tooth kicks in. You grab yourself a little dessert. But then you finish it and think, dang, I need a little salt to balance that out. After your salty snack, you crave some sweetness to swing back the other direction. Rinse, repeat. And you end the night stuffed.
But combos that deliver salty and sweet at the same time save you from that calorie-dense rigamarole. In fact, that’s a big part of why we made our latest Doughp to drop. Without further ado, let’s introduce you to PB Pretzel Crunch and remind you of some of the other great sweet/salty pairing options.
Peanut butter and pretzel
PB Pretzel Crunch mixes the salty (pretzel bites) into the sweet (rich chocolate blended into our peanut butter cookie dough) to pack a one-two punch of flavor. Plus, to satisfy even more of your cravings, the pretzel pieces give this flavor some serious crunch.
Really want to get satiated? Kelsey, our founder, has a tip: add a little more peanut butter on top. Now that’s living.
Popcorn and M&M’s
You don’t have to visit the movie theater to enjoy this fan fave. Microwave popcorn can do the trick. Or if you’re trying to be a little healthier, you could even air pop your popcorn.
The trick is to get a big bowl, dump the popcorn in while it’s hot, then go straight in with the M&M’s. That way, the little bit of meltiness helps the flavors meld. Pop on your favorite movie or show and enjoy heaven.
Cheddar and apple
Looking for a filling, satisfying snack with ingredients you can easily bring to work? Grab an apple and a slice of cheddar cheese and throw it into your lunch box.
When you’re feeling peckish, slice up that apple for the sweet, then break a chunk off the cheddar slice and pop it on top for the salty. Every bite brings the flavor and you’ll get all the health benefits of an apple, too. You know what they say about keeping the doctor away.
Dates and blue cheese
If you’re hosting and you want to satisfy your guests’ cravings while keeping things semi-fancy, this combo delivers. Pit and half some dates, then top each half with a little blue cheese. Stick a toothpick in each bite-sized hors d’oeuvres and you’re good to go.
If this doesn’t have you craving a snack, we don’t know what will. To satisfy your salty and sweet tooth at the same time, order your PB Pretzel Crunch today!
